Planning a vacation that will last for weeks can be considered as one of the best runaway vacations that you could have ever planned (see our article about sailing destinations)  However, if this is what you intend to do, you must be able to have your own recreational boat.

Sailing and recreational boats seem to always go together. Before you choose a recreational boat and go sailing with your family, it is best to be aware of the various types of boats that you can choose from. Remember, that these boats listed below are not manufacturers or brands, as they are the general terms of these recreational boats.

Fishing Boat

As the name implies, this is a small recreational boat that allows you to fish. Because it is mainly used for fishing, there are some specific platforms wherein you can stand and throw your net. It also provides you a place where you can temporarily put your fishes. For a great father and son bonding, you can choose various designs of fishing boats that are out in the market. Generally, among the different kinds of recreational boats, fishing boats are considered to be the least expensive among the others. This is due to a fact that the fishing boat is less complicated.

One of the most common features of this recreational boat is that I may have a draining passageway in the center. This way, you can easily remove water from the boat and enjoy your sailing moments safely.

Sail Boat

Have you ever planned to go and cruise the ocean for 3 days up to 14 days or more? If so, a sail boat can be the best recreational boat for your sailing needs. Most often, a sail boat can accommodate more people compared to the fishing boat. Although, this recreational boat does not require the use of engine – as it greatly depends on the sails and the winds. If you have watched some children cartoon series or remember “Peter Pan”, the boat used there is a sail boat.

Pontoon Boat

This recreational boat becomes the most preferred boat most especially to Americans. People who wanted to add up a little spice in their sailing adventure can get this particular kind of boat. Mainly, it can be used on streams, lakes and even rivers. The pontoon boat is shaped like a log, accommodating more people, which give little space for the boat paddle. Most often, it doesn’t need an engine, since the steam and the water flow is the one responsible for making your whole sailing adventure memorable.

Cabin Cruiser

Cabin cruisers are recreational boats that are very famous for couples who have decided to go on a sailing adventure on a night or two. It gives them an opportunity to go on a little cabin, to keep them warm, and to give them a place to rest. Generally, this can give a sleeping space for up to four adults. Sailing with your loved one can be even made more romantic with this particular kind of recreational boat.

    I am chartering yachts every summer and it is very funny. It is not expensive if you have a big family or you invite some friends. I recommend doing this kind of charters before buying a boat
